Introduction
This is an important topic, because we all want to run a good race and finish strong. Provoked by love for each other, an awareness of our own frailty and the fear of God, and sobered by the steady drip of high profile ministries falling, it is important that we each desire, and seek out, accountability.Particularly, we need to be clear about the roles that different groups play. For example, what roles do our spouses, our fellow elders, and our Advance colleagues play?A simple definition of accountability could be “to be regularly answerable, in personal humility and honesty, about key areas of our life to the appropriate people.”It is important to note is that accountability hinges on personal honesty, and not a system. If I am not honest and open, then no system, or set of questions, or caring friends, will make me so.At this stage of development, Advance relies primarily on relationship to resolve conflict. As Advance continues to grow and mature as a movement, this might need to be augmented by a documented process for conflict resolution.
